Rain Sensor

— This product has been discontinued —

Add a rain sensor to your automatic irrigation system to safe valuable water. The rain sensor detects rain and cuts off any scheduled watering until the sensor has dried out and enables the next scheduled start.
Easily adjust the amount of rain before it delays your watering schedule and attach it to your fence or rain gutter. The rain sensor includes a 7.5m long cable to wire to your irrigation controller. Simply cut off the end of the cable and hard wire into the terminal block to suspend any automatic watering schedule.

It works!

Very happy with the rain sensor. The irrigation schedule was effectively interrupted when it rained.

A rain sensor is a simple device that detects rainfall & suspends watering from the irrigation controller. (Watering will resume when the sensor “dries out”). The sensor simply breaks the common wire between the valves and the controller. Follow the basic wiring diagram below to connect your system.
The rain sensor is essentially a switch that opens & closes and is wired into the common wire.
Each valve has two wires, one wire goes to the terminal block in the controller, the other wire is connected to the common wire between all of the valves. It’s the common wire where the rain sensor breaks the electrical circuit when it detects rain & watering is suspended.
NOTE: If your system is using a PUMP, then ensure the pump valve common wire is also wired up with the other valve common wires. This will avoid the pump running against a closed head. A “closed head” is when the water from the pump is being pumped against a “closed” valve & the water has nowhere to go. Running against a closed head will burn out the pump!
