Trying to regulate the flow from a high pressure garden faucet can be tricky when using the standard 90 degree control valves sold by most garden hose suppliers which are more suited to on/off applications rather than fine regulation. So it was with anticipation that I bought today from Bunnings this product which promised a 180 degree of rotational control to regulate the flow going to a drip hose.
When I went to school, 180 degrees was the arc traced out by rotation through a semi-circle. Somehow this definition has been modernised, because I discovered that the control sleeve only rotated through 90 degrees (a quarter of a circle) and does not give much more control than a regular on/off style valve or tap.
I'll have to come to grips with the new mathematics - now 180 degrees = 90 degrees! (this used to be called false advertising, but with social media teaching that anything goes, the truth is now optional and good ol' "caveat emptor" is more important than ever.
I WONT BE BUYING HOLMAN AGAIN - which is sad because I like to support Australian Companies - I will stick to tried and tested Gardena in the future!
